Unique Fundraiser To Be Held At Bruntingthorpe
Written by HFM News on 4th February 2020
A new fundraising event will take place later this year at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground.
Harborough Twenty12 Lions Club will host the Midsummer Dream Walk on Sunday June 21st, giving participants the chance to walk along one of the UK’s longest ex cold-war runways, with views of preserved cold-war planes – which is not normally open to the public.
Sarah Hill from the Lions spoke to Hfm:
There will be a range of walks, suitable for the whole family, from laps of 5.6km, a shorter 2.75km route; plus a special walk of up to 400 metres on the main runway for those who cannot manage longer distances. The whole site is level ground and you walk on tarmac, so is suitable for all, including wheelchairs and pushchairs.
All participants need to do is pay an entry free and download a sponsorship form. Any personal sponsorship goes to the charity chosen by the participant. Profits from entry fees will be distributed to Lions Charities.
There are three starting times to choose from:
10am-noon: for those wishing to do a long walk of several laps.
2pm- 4pm: for those wanting to do no more than 2 long laps.
8pm-9pm: Midsummer Evening Dream: A wonderful evening wander as twilight falls.
