28-Year Campaign For Hydrotherapy Pool Pays Off

Written by on 3rd February 2020

A new hydrotherapy pool is to open at Harborough Leisure Centre – thanks to people who donated £48,000 to a fundraising appeal launched 28 years ago.

The facility, which will help those with arthritis, back pain and muscle injuries, was first thought about in 1992, and various events were held to raise money for it.

Difficulties in finding a venue to install it are being blamed by the administrators of the fund for the delay in the ‘Hippo Appeal’ project coming to fruition.

Carole Tilley from Market Harborough was heavily involved in fundraising for it during the 90s and more recently campaigned for the money to be spent on the facility:

Talks with Harborough Council and the operator of the Leisure Centre are taking place to finalise the plan and installation.
