Fire-Hit Pub To Be Re-Built

A Market Harborough pub that was wrecked by a major fire is to be demolished and re-built.

The Roebuck off Rockingham Road has been shut since the blaze late on September the sixth, which was caused by an electrical fault.

Its owner, brewery Marston’s says demolition work will start in the next few weeks and the new pub building, which will have a new look and design, should start going up in the New Year and be completed by September 2020.

The company is thanking people for the local support since the fire, which included over £1500 being raised for the live-in Manager Andy Lapsley, who lost all his belongings.

Andy Kershaw from Marston’s who is overseeing the project said: “The local support we have received since the fire has been fantastic, we want to thank everyone for their support and kind words. It is still early days, but we are really pleased to be able to move forward with the plans for the bigger and better Roebuck. We want to do this right and will heavily invest to make sure we build an even better local for Market Harborough to be proud of.”
