Operation Stock Investigations Continue
Written by HFM on 23rd July 2019
Northamptonshire Police and Trading Standards officials have been
distributing advice leaflets to food outlets and shoppers as their
investigation into illegal sheep butchery continues.
“Operation Stock” is investigating a number of cases of illegal
slaughter and butchery of sheep and lambs across the county this month,
including recent incidents in Kelmarsh and Clipston.
The possibility that stolen meat could end up in the human food chain
has led to concerns around animal welfare and food hygiene – with people
advised against buying cheap meat of unknown origin.
Anyone with information about the sale of meat in suspicious
circumstances – or the incidents of illegal butchery – is asked to call
Northamptonshire Police on 101. If you think a crime is in progress you
should always ‘phone 999.
