Nevill Holt Opera in running for an award

Staff at a Harborough Theatre venue are celebrating – after their
building was shortlisted for a prestigious national award by the Royal
Institute of British Architects.
Neville Holt Opera – the home of Carphone Warehouse co-founder David
Ross – is among six buildings in the running for this year’s Stirling
Prize – considered to be the highest accolade in architecture.
The new 400-seat opera house – built in the stable block at the Hall –
was designed by architects Witherford Watson Mann, and opened in June
last year.
The judges praised the ‘modesty, craftsmanship, care and attention’ that
had been applied to this ‘exceptional 21st Century addition’.
The winner of the 2019 RIBA Stirling Prize will be announced on Tuesday
the 8th of October at the Roundhouse in London.
