Electrification Plan ‘On-Track’

Plans to electrify the Midland Mainline
to Market Harborough are progressing.
It follows calls from campaigners, after it was announced a massive electricity substation to power the electrification of the tracks north of Kettering, will be built in Braybrooke – beside a section of railway that was not not due to be upgraded.
Rail Minister Andrew Jones spoke to Hfm during a visit to the upgraded railway station yesterday:
There was fury in 2017 when the government scrapped the electrification of the entire route between London and Sheffield – saying it would stop at Kettering.
