Water Work Brought Forward

Work to replace water pipes on Market Harborough’s Southern Estate has been brought forward and will now start next week.
The first stage will be on Rupert Road, before Severn Trent move onto Fairfax Road and Western Avenue – with all work on the estate set to be completed by the end of August.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place as work progresses to different parts of the estate.

Work was originally planned to start in that area in the Autumn and is part of a major project, costing £2m,to replace two miles of aging metal pipes with new plastic ones across town.
A Severn Trent Water spokesperson told Hfm: We fully appreciate that it can be a bit of a pain to have this work happening near your home and business – but please be assured that we (along with our contract partner Amey) will do everything we can to minimise any disruption and get you your brand new water pipes as quickly as possible.
“If we plan to interrupt your water supply we’ll notify you in advance with a card posted through your letterbox. In the unlikely event you experience discoloured water during our works, please run your taps for 20 minutes until the water runs clear before use. ”
The project began last month on Rockingham Road and Kettering Road, and is aimed at reducing bursts and leaks.
