Policing ‘Charge’ Likely To Increase

Leicestershire’s Police and Crime Commissioner says he is likely to make Harborough residents pay £2 more a month for Policing from April.
Willy Bach is considering the rise, £24 a year for the average Band D home locally, after being told how much cash the force will get from the government in the next year.
The 12% cent increase in the Police’s share of Council Tax – the biggest in recent years – would generate an extra £3m
The commissioner told Hfm a lot of that would go into boosting officer numbers:
Leicestershire Police has had to make savings of £38m since 2010, due to reduced government cash, which has seen officer numbers cut by 500.
