There is a call for average speed cameras to be installed on the A6 through Kibworth, in a bid to slow down traffic during quiet periods of the day.
Both Parish Councils there have made the suggestion as part of a wish-list to improve traffic flow and make things safer for villagers, following requests from residents.
They met with County Council highway bosses yesterday to discuss the idea, which they say should be mirrored with one single speed limit along the stretch of the road through the village, instead of the current varying ones.
Other topics discussed were the removal of some worn-out ‘speed cushions,’ better enforcement of parking restrictions and providing more shelters at bus stops.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire County Council said: “We’ve discussed the proposals and we’ll reply in more detail in due course. We also used the platform of the meeting to suggest potential ways forward which the parish councils may wish to explore.”
