There are calls for a Market Harborough supermarket to do more to improve the safety of shoppers after another pensioner fell victim to a thief in the car park.

The 72-year old-woman had her handbag stolen by a man who struck moments after she unlocked her car outside Waitrose on Springfield Street and placed it on the passenger seat.
She even gave chase to the thief who ran off towards St Mary’s Road, but he got away.
The victim says supermarket staff told her there is only CCTV coverage in part of the car park off Springfield Street and together with her family is calling for improvements.
Her daughter, Hannah Colley, spoke to Hfm:
The bag contained cash, a phone, house keys and other personal possessions.
The theft at around 6pm on December 28th follows another in November, when an elderly woman had her purse stolen in the car park, before thieves took over £3,000 from her accounts.”
Waitrose share the carpark with Aldi and a Waitrose spokesman told Hfm:
“We were sorry to learn of what must have been a terrible and shocking experience for those customers involved. We take security extremely seriously and, having shared CCTV footage with the police, are doing all we can to support them with their investigation.
“Our security team regularly visit the shop and we continue to work with the community police officers, as well as the council and other retailers through the Hart initiative, with the aim of creating a safe town centre for shoppers to visit.”
