Council Tax Freeze Proposed

Harborough Council is proposing no increase in its share of Council Tax this year.
The authority’s unveiled its budget plans which include investment in leisure and community facilities..providing more affordable homes and spending ten million pounds buying commercial properties to generate future income.
The County Council’s already said its share of bills will go up… it’s likely the amount we pay the Police will also rise.
Councillor James Hallam, the Council’s portfolio holder for finance and assets, said: “The Council continues to be able to propose a budget for 2019/20 that invests in services that residents and business tell us they value.
The Council’s focus on income generation means that Harborough District Council will not be increasing its share of Council Tax for 2019/20. The proposed capital programme of over £56m over the next three years will provide modern facilities for our residents and businesses that we can all be proud of.”
Subject to councillors’ agreement on January 14th, residents will then be asked to have their say on the budget proposals before a final decision is taken at the end of February.
