Harborough District Council is set to receive over £710,000 to invest in rural communities.

The cash has been allocated through the government’s Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) and will be used to improve community facilities and infrastructure as well as helping to address challenges faced by those living in isolated areas.

Cllr Phil Knowles, Leader of Harborough District Council, said: “This investment allows us to continue funding projects that make a real difference – whether that’s supporting local businesses, upskilling residents, or enhancing public spaces.

“We remain committed to fostering a thriving, inclusive community and driving positive change across the district. We look forward to another year of impactful initiatives and continued collaboration with our partners.”

The REPF is part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) which aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK by investing in communities and places, supporting local businesses, and people and skills.

The funding allocation builds on over £2m of UKSPF funding already invested in the Harborough district over the past three years.
