20 Jobs Created As Boyes Opening Date Confirmed

Twenty new jobs have been created as a national discount retailer prepares to open a new department store in Market Harborough.
Boyes will launch in the former Wilko site in St Mary’s Place at 9am on May 15th, following a major refurbishment of the long-vacant premises, including new retail space on the upper floor.
Leader of Harborough District Council, Councillor Simon Whelband, has welcomed the arrival:

The family-run business, which operates more than 80 stores across the UK, has taken on a number of former Wilko sites nationwide, including in Kettering, following the collapse of the high street chain in 2023.
Boyes is known for its traditional department store-style layout, offering a wide range of goods from homeware and clothing to DIY, cleaning products, crafts and seasonal items. The retailer stocks around 35,000 products.
Retail Operations Director Robert Van Der Heijden said: “We’re really looking forward to opening in Market Harborough and welcoming customers into the new store.
“The town is an ideal location for Boyes and we are delighted to have been able to employ a new team of local staff.”
