More Electric Car Charge-Up points

More charging points for electric cars are to be installed across Harborough.
The Council is to put them in cars parks in School Road, Kibworth Beauchamp, Station Road, Lutterworth and Orchard Close in Brorton Astley.
It follows two being installed in the Commons Car Park in Market Harborough.
It costs £1.40 to charge an electric vehicle for two hours, paid for via the Podpoint app, which can be downloaded on mobile devices.
The app also provides details of other locations of charging points across the country. Drivers can pay to park in the electric charging point bays via the app and will be able to stay in the bays for a maximum of three hours (at a cost of £2.10).
Cllr Neil Bannister (pictured), Leader of Harborough District Council, said: “Electric vehicles are better for the environment, and cheaper to run and maintain so it is not a surprise that they are increasing in popularity. We will continue to provide further electric vehicle charge points later in the year as part of the work we do to help address environmental issues in our district.”
In July 2018, the Council reported that it had introduced electric vehicle charging points at the council-owned Harborough Innovation Centre with a view to providing more across the district.
