‘Yarn Bombs’ Decorate Churches For Easter

Harborough Churches are marking Easter with ‘Yarn Bombs’.

Members of the congregation at St Hugh’s on Northampton Road and St Nicholas Church in Little Bowden spent the six weeks of lent knitting flowers, pompoms and other objects, which are on display outside – to help spread the Easter message as usual services couldn’t take place.

They kept the plan a secret until Sunday, when passers-by were treated to the surprise displays, which are to remain in place until April 17th.

The idea came about back in February, by a chance remark following the question ‘How can we share Lent and celebrate Easter Day?’ with the yarn-bombing idea being taken up enthusiastically by members and friends of the congregations.
