Woman Arrested After Allegations Of Sexual Abuse At School

A woman has been questioned as part of a Police investigation into allegations of sexual abuse at a boarding school near Market Harborough in the 1970s.

The 67 year old was arrested yesterday by officers who are looking into claims of abuse at Maidwell Hall School in Maidwell.

Allegations were made by Earl Spencer, the brother of Princess Diana, who was a pupil at the school.

Northamptonshire Police carried out preliminary enquiries into what happened at the school took place earlier this year and led to an official investigation being launched.

A Police spokesperson for said: “We are in the early stages of investigating a number of non-recent allegations of sexual abuse at Maidwell Hall School.

“As part of this investigation we have today arrested a 67-year-old woman from Stafford. She has been released on conditional bail while we continue with our enquiries.

“Northamptonshire Police takes all allegations of abuse very seriously and where reports are made to us, we will pursue all available lines of enquiry to help bring perpetrators to justice.
