Weekend Roadworks On A6 In Kibworth Postponed

Written by on 20th July 2023

Roadworks which would have caused delays for drivers on the A6 in Kibworth this weekend have been postponed.

Severn Trent Water was due to carry out work with four-way temporary traffic lights at the Church Road/Marsh Drive junctions on Saturday and Sunday.

The firm has taken the decision to avoid traffic problems in light of the event at Market Harborough Showground, which starts on Saturday.

Dan Hill from Severn Trent told HFM: “While we had planned to complete work on the A6 this weekend, due to the Light for Life Mission event that’s expected to attract large crowds to the Market Harborough Showground, we have chosen to postpone our activity till a later date.

“This is to reduce pressure on roads, and to minimise any traffic disruption for visitors and the community for the event.

“We will coordinate with Leicestershire County Council’s highways team to find a suitable date to complete the work in the near future.”

The work should have taken place last month and Severn Trent was criticised for putting signals in place for two days, when no workers turned up.

A ‘scheduling error’ was blamed for the mishap, which could see the company fined by Leicestershire County Council.
