Water Safety and BBQ Warning as Hot Weather Continues

People are being urged to take extra care as hot weather continues, with warnings over water safety and barbecues.

The Canal & River Trust is advising people to stay out of canals and open water sites including Saddington Reservoir and waterways around Market Harborough, warning of hidden dangers such as cold water, currents and underwater hazards that can quickly lead to drowning.

Fire services in Leicestershire and Northamptonshire are also reminding people to take care with barbecues, keeping them on stable ground away from flammable materials, and ensuring they are fully cooled before disposal.
