Warning Over Scam ‘Emergency Care Group’ Calls

Written by on 11th November 2020

A warning has been issued about scam phone calls being made to people in and around Desborough.

The caller claims to be from the ‘Desborough and Rothwell emergency care group’ – which doesn’t exist – offering to arrange a home visit to install an emergency care button for £1.

There are concerns people could think the call is genuine as the area’s GP surgeries are operated by the ‘Rothwell and Desborough Healthcare Group’ and a community group called ‘Desborough Community Emergency Deliveries’ is currently helping people around the area.

Northamptonshire Police are urging anyone who receives such a call to report it to them on 101, or Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040, and not pass over any personal details.

The Rothwell and Desborough Healthcare Group says when it contacts people staff we will clearly identify themselves, along with the reasons for the call and would never request any money for services.
