Warning After Tree Set Alight In Park

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service have issued a warning after a tree was deliberately set alight at a park in Market Harborough.

Firefighters were called to deal with the blaze off Simborough Way on the Ashley Way estate, just before 5pm on Friday.

LFRS say such incidents take crews away from life-threatening calls and a spokesperson told HFM: “Fire can spread quickly in these warm, dry conditions we’ve been experiencing.

“Deliberately starting fires could endanger lives and property, and even small fires can take our fire crews away from responding to other incidents, delaying their response times and putting lives at risk.”

The service added that the incident was reported to Police.
