Warning After Man Tries To Steal Car In Market Harborough

Owners of keyless cars are being urged to take precautions after a would-be thief was caught on CCTV in Market Harborough early this morning.
The footage shows a man on a driveway on the Ashley Way estate at around 2.20am, using equipment to try and intercept the signal from the key fob inside the house.
The method is used by thieves to unlock and start vehicles so they can be stolen, although on this occasion he was unsuccessful.

Police are appealing to anyone who saw anyone acting in a suspicious or unusual manner in the Ashley Way area in the early hours of today to contact them on 101, quoting reference: BCA-17757-22-3333-00.
They are also urging owners of keyless cars to put their key fobs in special wallets when in the house, which can block electrical signals and consider using steering locks.
