War Memorial To Be Given Major Clean

A major clean of the War Memorial in Market Harborough town centre will take place next month.

Scaffolding will be erected around the structure on The Square to allow for the work by Harborough District Council to take place.

Once complete the main inscription on the memorial will be renewed, as it has become virtually illegible since the memorial was erected over a hundred years ago.

Planning permission was needed before the work could be carried out, as the structure is Grade-2 protected monument and the council wanted it to be completed before the Remembrance period in November.

The work is set to begin on September 16th.
