Villages Face Third Day Of Water Problems

Written by on 5th October 2026

Water supply problems affecting several villages near Market Harborough have entered a third day, with two major roads closed because of burst mains.

East Farndon, Clipston, Great Oxendon, Kelmarsh and Maidwell are among the villages affected, with parts of Rothwell also impacted.

Anglian Water is providing bottled water as some properties are still without water while others are experiencing very low pressure.

The A508 in Maidwell is closed while repairs take place.

Mains have burst in Maidwell and Rothwell, with the B576 Desborough Road in Rothwell and the A508 Harborough Road in Maidwell both closed while repair work is carried out.

The disruption is also affecting local businesses, with pubs in some of the villages forced to close temporarily because they have no water.

Bernie Fallon, chair of East Farndon Parish Council, says Harborough Leisure Centre has stepped in to help residents:

Anglian Water says teams are working as hard as possible to restore water supplies.

The company has apologised for the disruption and says the road closure in Rothwell is necessary to allow its teams to work safely.

The company says there is access to Desborough Road, but no through route, and traffic is being diverted.

Rothwell Surgery is also within the closure area. Anglian Water says vehicle access to the surgery is available from the A6 bypass via the Woodland Valley estate.

The company says the road closure in Rothwell is likely to remain in place until the end of the week while repair and reinstatement work is completed.
