VE Day Anniversary Party In The Park

A VE Day Anniversary Party In The Park is to take place in Market Harborough’s Welland Park.
The free event on Sunday May 11th will include a host of activities for the whole family, with live music from Harborough Band, Annemarie Marlow, Dolce Sisters and the Ukulele band, vintage vehicles, stalls, crafts, a bar and mini stream train.
There will also be a street party picnic for the younger children and rides and amusements for all ages and a Spitfire flypast, courtesy of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flights.
The HFM-supported event will mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day and guest of honour will be 100-year-old D-Day veteran Robert Hardy who served in the Royal Navy, volunteering as a minesweeper during the war.
There will also be a collection for the Armed Forces Charity SSAFA during the event and people are encouraged to go in fancy dress to join in with the theme of the day.
