Unexploded Grenade Sparks Emergency
Written by HFM News on 19th February 2019
A controlled explosion has been carried out by Army Bomb Disposal experts after an unexploded World War II Hand Grenade was discovered near Kibworth Harcourt at lunchtime.

The alarm was raised just after midday by anglers Tony Randall and Ian Nicholson, who were magnet-fishing in the canal off Wistow Road.
Tony told Hfm what happened:
Police were called to the scene and put a cordon in place in the area, including closing the road, until the arrival of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team from RAF Chilwell in Nottinghamshire.
They confirmed the grenade was ‘live’ and carried out a controlled explosion before 5pm.
