Two Welland Park Students Test Positive For Coronavirus

Around 170 students at Welland Park Academy have been told to self-isolate for two weeks after two pupils tested positive for Coronavirus.

The cases involving Year 8 and Year 9 pupils were confirmed over the weekend.

As a result students who had been in close contact with them – around a third of year 8 and half of year 9 – have been told to stay at home.

The school says the children who tested positive are well and it’s completing a ‘contacts investigation’ to see if any others are able to return before November 23^rd.

Principal Julie McBrearty told Hfm they have followed national guidance to ensure the safety of students and staff is not compromised and those pupils told to self-isolate will have lessons delivered remotely, via computer.

Last month a year nine student tested positive, resulting in the whole of that year group having to self-isolate.

Meanwhile, all of Year 7 at Lutterworth College have been told to self-isolate for two weeks, after a student in the year group tested positive.
