Tributes Paid To Rose Darnbrough

Tributes have been paid to a much-loved former worker at a Market Harborough children’s nursery who has died from a rare brain disease.

Rose Darnbrough was a popular member of staff at Castle Lane Day Nursery and ran the town’s Gymnastics Club for over 20 years.

Rose, from Lubenham, was diagnosed with Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD) last year and passed away on November 27th.

The condition had left her with limited speech, mobility and memory, and needing around-the-clock care.

Rose leaves a loving and supportive family, comprising her husband John, daughter Sian and granddaughter Freddi.

Sian is thanking everyone for their support and said: “We have been blown away with the amount of love shown for Mum. As a family, we are completely devastated by the loss of our Rosie.

“Nothing could explain the sadness we are feeling but we are also comforted that she is finally free from this evil condition.

“I would wish it on no one and no family having to watch their loved one go through it, knowing there’s no treatment and nothing that can be done – it’s completely soul destroying.”

Staff at Castle Lane Day Nursery say they will remember Rose for fun-loving attitude to life and wonderful sense of humour.

Harriet Gray, co-director at the nursery, said: “Rose has been like a second mum to me. She has supported me through motherhood and always been a listening ear.

“Her sense of humour was fantastic and she always had a brilliant, fun-loving attitude to life, making me laugh continuously! Her passing has left us devastated. We simply cannot imagine life without her.”

A fundraising drive launched by Castle Lane earlier this year for a charity which supports people with the disease has raised over £1,400 and donations made at Rose’s funeral yesterday will also go to the cause.
