Widespread Rail Disruption Following Braybrooke Landslip

Rail passengers in Market Harborough are facing major travel disruption earlier than expected – as Network Rail continues unplanned repair work to the line through Braybrooke today (Friday 3rd November).

Following the recent bad weather, engineers moved in yesterday to stabilise a stretch of track in the area, after monitoring revealed the land beneath it had begun to move.

All trains travelling north between Kettering and Leicester are being diverted via Corby to allow specialist earthwork teams unrestricted access to the Braybrooke site.

This means there are no northbound services calling at Market Harborough Station today – with a rail replacement bus service running for passengers travelling towards Leicester.

Many southbound services are also likely to be diverted, so you’re being advised to check before you travel.

There’s engineering work closing the line all this weekend, too!

This will coincide with separate, scheduled engineering work in our area over the weekend – with no trains at all running in either direction through Market Harborough this Saturday or Sunday.

UPDATE SAT 4th NOV:

Network Rail is warning that emergency repair work to the track through Braybrooke will now continue into NEXT week.

Work is well underway to install soil nails and other equipment to stabilise a stretch of embankment there, which was damaged by the recent bad weather.

However, because this involves concrete and other materials which need time to set before the track can be fully reinstated, Network Rail warns disruption to services will continue on Monday and Tuesday, 6th and 7th November.
