A small section of Northampton Road has been coned off, but no work is taking place
Drivers have faced lengthy queues on all approaches to the town centre
Bus stops have also been coned off, causing confusion for passengers, while pedestrians are facing further disruption as the usual crossing signals are not working.
It is unclear what work is scheduled to take place, although Leicestershire County Council granted a permit allowing it to run from 6am today until 6am tomorrow.
