Traffic Chaos as “No Show” Severn Trent Roadworks Spark Criticism

Severn Trent Water is being criticised after temporary traffic management was put in place in Market Harborough town centre despite no work currently taking place.
Drivers have faced lengthy queues on all approaches this morning after temporary traffic lights replaced the usual signals around The Square, following the coning off of a small section of Northampton Road.

Bus stops have also been coned off, causing confusion for passengers, while pedestrians are facing further disruption as the usual crossing signals are not working.

It is unclear what work is scheduled to take place, although Leicestershire County Council granted a permit allowing it to run from 6am today until 6am tomorrow.
