Town Council Plan For Market Harborough

A town council could be created in Market Harborough ahead of likely local government re-organisation.
Unlike other parts of the district, Market Harborough is ‘un-parished,’ meaning it is directly managed by Harborough District Council.

However, HDC would be abolished and replaced with a larger unitary authority if the shake-up goes ahead.
Having a town council would ensure residents’ voices continue to be heard and the new body could take on responsibilities including managing some open spaces and organising community events like the Christmas Lights Switch-On.
