Thieves Target Catalytic Converters

Police are urging people to be vigilant following a spate of catalytic converter thefts in and around Market Harborough.

Officers say they are being stolen from cars and vans at all times of the day, often those in car parks and the thieves are targeting mainly Honda and Toyota vehicles.

It’s thought the parts, which convert exhaust emissions into less toxic substances, are being taken to be sold on or to be stripped down, because of the expensive metals they contain.

Police say the thieves can often look like they are carrying out repairs to a vehicle and are urging anyone who sees someone appearing to be ‘working’ on a car or van in car parks to call them.
