Thieves Break Into Over 50 Sheds At Kibworth Allotment Site

Thieves have stolen power tools and gardening equipment worth thousands of pounds after breaking into over 50 sheds at an allotment site in Kibworth Harcourt.

They used bolt croppers to rip padlocks off the doors sometime between 5pm yesterday and 6.30am today and used wheelbarrows to move the equipment to the road-side, where it’s believed they were loaded into a vehicle.

Others items from some of the sheds were left strewn across the area and plants trampled on.

Police – who are working with allotment holders to establish exactly what was stolen – are appealing for information and want to hear from anyone who saw suspicious persons or vehicles at the site on West Langton Road, near the junction with the A6.

Sergeant Ryan Coleman said: “We’d like to speak to anyone who was travelling – either in a car or on foot – along West Langton Road either yesterday evening or early this morning and saw or heard anything suspicious.

“I’d also ask anyone who lives in the area and has seen or been offered items such as garden tools for sale.

“We’d like to speak to anyone who owns an allotment at the site but has not yet contacted police. Any information you have could help with our investigation.”
