“Swab on wheels” COVID testing in North Northamptonshire villages

Villagers in North Northamptonshire should soon have easier access to a COVID-19 test, with the launch of a new mobile service.

Dubbed “swabs on wheels” the county’s first lateral flow testing van aims to get more people without any Coronavirus symptoms to get
themselves checked.

The initiative by Public Health Northamptonshire follows a drop in those visiting static testing centres – despite COVID case numbers in the area
continuing to rise.

Lateral flow tests reduce the risk of the virus being spread by people who don’t know they’re infected – which can include individuals who’ve
been vaccinated.

After starting in Northampton, it’s planned to get the new mobile unit out and about across the whole county during the next few weeks.
