Storm Leads To Flash Flooding In Fleckney

Torrential downpours led to flash flooding in Fleckney last night.

Water entered some properties as a storm hit the village, with over 40mm of rain falling in less than two hours – the equivalent of three weeks of average August rainfall.

Many gardens were flooded and manhole covers were blown out of roads as drains were unable to cope with the deluge, with the High Street area the worst affected.

The clean-up is on-going today.

Firefighters were called to a house on Manor Road following a report of internal flooding and highway teams were dispatched by Leicestershire County Council.

The flooding came just over a year after a storm led to similar scenes in the village and parts of Kibworth were also affected by flooding last night.
