Aldi has not yet confirmed when work will work start on the £5m store and it still to purchase the land, which has been home to Glenmere Timber Company Ltd for many years.
The supermarket giant was granted planning permission to build on the site in March and once open the larger store will replace the existing Aldi on Springfield Street, creating an additional 15 jobs.
An Aldi Spokesperson told HFM: “Aldi is committed to building a new store in Market Harborough and is working with the relevant authorities to deal with technical topics prior to starting work on site.
“As soon we have a detailed schedule of works, we will provide our customers and the local community with further information.
“Aldi does not currently own the site in question and therefore has no control over what takes place on the land.”
