Sports Awards Celebrate Clubs & Individuals!

Individuals, clubs and those who work hard behind the scenes are celebrating after winning awards at last night’s Harborough District Sports Awards.
The Hfm-sponsored Club of The Year award went to Market Harborough’s Borough Alliance Football Club and Team Of The Year, also sponsored by Hfm was won by the Market Harborough Meerkats Under 14s Netball Team, in recognition of their achievements in top competitions this year.

Laurence Jones, Chairman of Harborough Town Football Club, was handed the Community Champion 2019 award and Matt Moir, 18, from Market Harborough, won the Unsung Hero – Junior Inspiration award for his work last year at Robert Smyth Academy and now at Little Bowden Primary School.

Mike Skully, Head of PE at Robert Smyth Academy, was awarded the Unsung Hero – Inspiration award and the Sports Person of the Year award went to squash player Lily Taylor.
Market Harborough Meerkats Netball Team receive their award
The awards, held at Leicester Grammar School, were organised for a third year by Harborough District Council’s physical activity team.

- Lifetime Achievement: Lindsey Bates
- Lifetime Achievement: David Lowe
- Harborough Hero: Terri Picton Clark
- Community Champion: Laurence Jones and Liz Adams
