Speed Limit Cut On Rural Road Near Market Harborough

A new speed limit has come into force on Gallow Field Road in Gartree in a bid to boost safety.
It has been cut from 60mph to 50mph, with new signs erected to alert drivers.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire County Council said: “All county roads which are assigned the national speed limit have been reviewed to identify those with an accident rate higher than the national average.
“As a result of this review, Gallow Field Road was identified as having a total number of accidents above the national average so the speed limit has been reduced from 60mph to 50mph to increase general safety and reduce the accident rate.”
