Some Parking Machines To Go Cashless

Some parking machines in Market Harborough will only accept card payments from next month.

Harborough Council is stopping coins being used in three of the pay and display machines located in the Sainsbury’s Car Park, off Springfield Street and two in the Commons Car Park.

Bosses hope it will reduce the risk of them being targeted by thieves and also save on the cost of emptying them.

A spate of raids on machines last year cost the authority over £21,000 in repairs and saw just under £3,000.
