Sniffer Dogs Cracking Down On Counterfeit Tobacco

Sniffer dogs are being used to detect counterfeit tobacco products in a new clampdown across Leicestershire.

Trading Standards are teaming up with Police in a bid to catch those trading in cheap illicit cigarettes in a bid to shutdown local supply chains.

So far this year over 7,000 such products have been seized and it’s hoped the special detector dogs will see that increase.

Bosses say as they are unregulated they are potentially dangerous as its unknown what is contained in them – they’re also a cheap source of tobacco for children.
