Six Jobs Lost As Shop Closes

Six people have lost their jobs with the closure of the Bonmarché shop in Market Harborough.

The store in St Mary’s Place is one of 17 to be shut this week, following the collapse of the over-50s women’s fashion chain last October.

It had been hoped a rescue deal could have been completed in time to stop the first phase of the closures nationwide by administrators.

A spokesperson for the administrators said: “The remaining Bonmarché stores continue to trade, while the performance of the business is kept under review. A significant number of the remaining trading stores are hoped to be part of a transaction with the preferred bidder, Peacocks, subject to the successful outcome of its due diligence process and negotiations with landlords.”
