Methodist Homes says the ‘difficult’ decision to place Welland Place on the market follows a ‘strategic review’ of its operations and it is confident of finding a buyer for the scheme.

It is one of 13 sites owned by the charitable organisation to be put on the market.

A statement said: “We are confident that new owners will be found for these schemes, each of which is a vibrant community and represents a great opportunity for the right organisation.

“If no buyer comes forward, however, people can be safe in the knowledge we will not be closing any scheme, and no one will lose their home.

“Our residents and colleagues will be the first to know of developments in this process.

“We are committed to continuing to deliver the level of service we now offer while we explore alternative care options for those affected and the marketing and sales process is ongoing.”
