Sex Offender Moved After Concerns Raised

Written by on 17th October 2018

Police say a convicted child sex offender who was living near Havelock Junior School in Desborough has left the town.

Concerns were raised by parents after a campaign group posted a picture of the 53-year-old on social media.

He was jailed for three years in 2016 for sexually assaulting two girls and banned from working with children for life, but had recently been released.

Officers say no offences have been disclosed to Police while the man was housed in the town and have warned against vigilante behaviour.

In a message to residents, a spokesperson said:  Northamptonshire Police understand your concerns and although you may not have seen police presence, a team of detectives, the Neighbourhood Policing Team and other partner agencies have been working  to mitigate any risk that may have been posed or suggested.

“As a result of this work the individual in question no longer resides in Desborough.

“You may not agree with the judicial punishment handed down, but that is what was handed down at the time, and committing criminal damage, or threatening to harm another person online is also a crime.

“The Law is not a Pick ‘n’ Mix and do not expect that because your comment is made about a convicted criminal that it is lawful.”
