Services Resume After Person Hit By Train

Train services from Market Harborough have resumed after they were suspended when a person was hit by a train.

Emergency services were called after reports of a casualty on the tracks near Leicester this morning.

East Midlands Railway reported a person had been hit by a train.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police told HFM: “We were called to an area of the line close to Lancaster Road, Leicester, shortly before 9am this morning, Thursday 22 August, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Officers attended along with paramedics and a person was taken to hospital by ambulance with non life-threatening injuries.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”

The tracks between Leicester and Market Harborough were closed for around two hours, with no East Midlands Railway services able to run.

Train services from Market Harborough have since resumed.
