Samurai Sword Handed-In During Knife Amnesty In Market Harborough

A samurai sword was among items handed in at Market Harborough Police station during a week-long knife amnesty.

It was among 37 blades surrendered after officers encouraged people to handover unwanted knives, with no questions asked,

The initiative last week was part of a the national Operation Sceptre campaign, aimed at tackling knife crime.

Sgt Pete Jelbert told Hfm he was pleased with the response from the public:

Officers also conducted extra patrols, specifically the parks, including a ‘knife sweep’ in Broughton Astley, although no knives were found.

Additional visits were also made to people known to have carried knives, known as habitual knife carries (HKC’s) to inform them of the  week of action targeting knife crime.
