Sadness As Popular Village Pub Closes Due To Rising Energy Costs

Rising energy costs have been blamed for the closure of a popular pub in Kibworth.

The leaseholder at the Coach and Horses says it was not sustainable to continue to trade, after bills more than doubled.

A statement on the pub’s Facebook page reads: “We have tried everything to beat the rising energy costs, and without boring you with the figures, in the month of October, without notice, the energy costs more than doubled. It was just not sustainable.

“You guys have been amazing, you turned up to our festivals, you supported our music/open mic events, you ordered takeaways every week, you made being here a pleasure.

“We’ve made friends for life, met some amazing people and we have all enjoyed every minute of it. We hope you have too.

“It’s a small village, and an amazing one at that, so I hope we see you around somewhere soon. You still have 2 amazing pubs and a couple of amazing restaurants.”
