Robbery Suspect Appears In Court

A man has appeared in court accused of stealing cash, designer coats and a mobile phone during robberies at properties in the Harborough district and Leicester.

Richile Vangu, 19, from Southgate in London, is accused of nine counts of robbery and an assault in relation to alleged incidents on November 21st and 22nd.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Leicester Crown Court in January.

A video which circulated online reportedly showed one man being hit with a belt, while other people were allegedly forced to hand over money via bank transfer during one incident.

A second 19-year-old who was arrested as part of the investigation was released on bail, pending further enquiries.

Leicestershire Police did not disclose the location of the alleged incident in Harborough district ‘for operation reasons’.
