Council Extends Measures Against Dog Fouling & Public Alcohol Abuse

Harborough District Council has extended measures to tackle irresponsible dog ownership and alcohol-related anti-social behaviour in public places.

The Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) allow council officers to issue fines to those who fail to pick up dog mess, put a dog on a lead when requested, or carry the correct means to clean up after their pet.

They also give police powers to seize alcohol in public spaces across much of Market Harborough and Lutterworth, and to arrest anyone who fails to comply.

Both PSPOs have now been extended for a further three years.
