Road Closed After Vehicle Hits Bridge

Major damage has been caused to a road bridge near Wistow after a vehicle collided with it.

Station Road has been closed to traffic following the collision at 7.30pm, which involved a box-van.

No-one was injured and no other vehicles were involved.

Station Road is closed between the Kibworth Road and Newton Lane junctions and could be for some time.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire County Council told HFM: “We’re aware that there’s been significant damage to the bridge as a result of the earlier collision and we’ve closed the road as an emergency precaution.

“Our highways teams are currently assessing the situation but it’s too early to say at this stage how long the road will remain closed.”
