Residents Urged To Apply To Close Roads For Platinum Jubilee Street Parties

Written by on 6th April 2022

People across Harborough wanting to hold a street party for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee have less than two weeks to apply for their road to be closed.

Leicestershire County Council has so far received over 100 applications for events during the extended bank holiday in June.

The deadline for residents to apply to close their own road is April 15th.

Usual fees are being waived to make it cheaper for residents to get together to mark the occasion.

Besides street parties, a wide array of other events will be held, including garden fetes, community picnics, local fairs, and music events.

Most of the events are planned during the extended bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5 June.

Anyone who wants to apply to close their road for a Platinum Jubilee street party can apply for free through the council’s website.
