Residents Demand More Policing

Written by on 17th December 2018

Over 600 hundred people have joined an Action Group calling for more Policing resources in Lutterworth and surrounding villages.

Residents say thefts from vehicles, burglaries and shoplifting is becoming an almost daily occurrence.

In the early hours of yesterday a pay and display parking machines was stolen from the Church Close car park after being smashed out of the ground.  Another was targeted in the Station Road car park, but left at the scene.

Those who launched the campaign are to meet with Police chiefs to discuss the situation and pass on the concerns.

Sue Jamieson, from the Lutterworth Action Group, spoke to Hfm:

Inspector Siobhan Gorman, Neighbourhood Policing Area Commander for Market Harborough, Melton and Rutland, said: “We are aware of the concerns of a number of residents in the Lutterworth area.

“As a result of this, a local police officer has initially met with residents during a surgery to speak with them and to provide support and advice. I will also be meeting myself with residents to further discuss these concerns.

“We are continually working to fight and reduce crime in the area, carrying out increased police patrols in the area, speaking with residents to act on their concerns and providing crime safety and prevention advice.

“We urge anyone with any concerns or who is the witness or victim of a crime to report it to us on 101 or by visiting our website at www.leics.police.uk or our social media pages. If you see our local officers in the area, please also speak to them and pass on your thoughts and concerns or please speak to myself.

“In the case of an emergency, you should always contact 999.”
